I have chosen American Like Me, edited by America Ferrera. I have chosen this book because my parents are also immigrants, and I can relate to the book. She mentions that her mom said you should be fortunate to be doing homework instead of working. This also hit home because every time I complain about how life is so hard and I have so much homework to do, and never time to do anything else. My parents also say I should be fortunate because, in Iran, I would have been working all day for little to no pay.

What I hope to get out of this book is to learn about her unique background and the challenges she faced by individuals with various backgrounds. The impressions I have so far from the book are very catchy and consistently makes me want to read more. Not only because her writing style is easy to read, but her sense of humor from her writing makes it more enjoyable to read.

  Describe where you come from I originally come from Iran, Theran. I was only six years old when I moved here and do not remember much. When I moved to Los Angeles, it felt like home, and do not want to live any place else. Tell me where you're going Once I finish USC which will be this semester, I will be going into becoming a financial advisor at Wells Fargo. Random post- Big Bear Trip

  Living in Los Angeles, we don’t get to experience snowy mornings. The idea of waking up to two feet of snow is something we never see here. While LA winters are mild, sometimes my friends and I miss the feeling of a real winter. A few years ago, we started a tradition of going to Big Bear every year during the holidays. We rent a big cabin, gather all our friends, and enjoy the snow we don’t get in LA. It’s something we all look forward to. Before we head up there, besides splitting the cabin cost, everyone also chips in around $150 for food and drinks. We usually stop at a grocery store like Costco to buy a bunch of meat for BBQ, beer, liquor, and snacks.
